Privacy Policy

Wardlock is a Gray Clay game, operated by Ryan Sandberg. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Wardlock mobile app and what we do with it.
What we collect
- Email address — collected when you create an account, used only for authentication.
- Username — a display name you choose, stored in our database and visible to other players. In online matches, the username you used at the time is also stored in the match record so your opponents' game histories stay readable.
- Gameplay data (optional, on by default; only when signed in) — for each completed game we record: which side won, the ward and spell set used, turn count, duration, and the full move notation. These records are attached to your account ID and, in online games, your opponent's account ID, along with app version, device model, and platform (Android / iOS). We use this to balance the game, tune the AI, build puzzles, and debug issues. You can turn this off at any time in Settings (the gear icon on the home screen) → Share gameplay data. If you are not signed in, nothing is uploaded.
- Online match results — when you play another person online, our server records the match: both players' account IDs and usernames, the result and reason (win, resign, forfeit), rating changes, and the full move notation. This powers game history, ratings, and fair-play review.
- Online presence — whether you are currently online, used to show friends your availability.
- Crash reports (optional, on by default) — anonymous crash stack traces via Firebase Crashlytics. Toggle in the same settings screen.
We do not collect your real name, location, phone number, or payment information.
How we use it
We use your information solely to operate and improve the game — authenticating you, matching you with opponents, maintaining your game history, balancing gameplay, and fixing bugs. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising or any other purpose.
Third-party services
We use Firebase (Google) for authentication, data storage, and crash reporting. Firebase's privacy policy is available at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Your choices
- Opt out of gameplay data sharing at any time in Settings (the gear icon on the home screen) → Share gameplay data. New games played while opted out are not uploaded.
- Opt out of crash reports in the same settings screen.
- Play fully offline — solo and campaign games against the AI work without an account, and campaign progress is saved on your device. If you are not signed in, nothing leaves your device.
Data deletion
You can delete your account at any time from within the app: Settings (the gear icon on the home screen) → Delete Account. Deletion is immediate and permanently removes:
- your account and sign-in,
- your profile, username (it becomes available to others), and friends list,
- your cloud-saved campaign progress,
- your uploaded gameplay records, and
- any pending friend challenges.
What remains: online matches you played against other people stay in those players' game histories — that record is their history too. It includes the username you used at the time and an internal account identifier that no longer resolves to any account after deletion. If you want these remaining references removed as well, email privacy@wardlock.gg with your account email and we'll handle it within 30 days.
If you can't access the app, email privacy@wardlock.gg and we'll delete your data within 30 days.
